    We are seeking a Associate Manufacturing Engineer to join our Culpeper, VA facility.

     

    This position can be filled at this level or one level higher.

    Essential Job Functions (Including % of Time for Each)

    Working under direct supervision, the successful individual will collaboratively support program production teams comprised of mechanical engineers, quality engineers, purchasing agents, subcontract administrators, design engineers, test technicians and other necessary support personnel to produce quality space hardware on time and on budget.

    50% - Create and update rocket engine build planning as required to support both production and development programs via utilization of EPS (Electronic Planning System). Effectively coordinate and synchronize all assembly and testing requirements/specifications into the planning instructions.

    30% - Actively participate in problem solving and implementation of preventive action plans to resolve planning/specification conflicts. Engagement in floor support with assembly operations personnel to review existing and upcoming planning. Manage metrics for quality of planning.

    20% - Coordinate a cooperative approach with Manufacturing Engineers, Senior Planners, Manufacturing Lead Engineer, Production Technicians/Mechanics, Production leadership and Management in the development and adherence to schedules of requested planning. Coordinate and achieve cross functional buy-in with engineering, quality, and safety.

    SECONDARY FUNCTIONS: Other duties as assigned.

    Requirements

    Requires a Bachelor's degree in Engineering (prefer one of the following majors: Aerospace, Chemical, Manufacturing or Mechanical) or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

    • Demonstrated ability in manufacturing, the ability to read and interpret technical drawings, and interpret and evaluate analytical and experimental data.
    • Must be able to effectively communicate (verbal and written) with all levels of personnel both internal and external to the company.
    • Ability to work in a team environment will be expected.
    • Experience working with energetic materials is preferred.
    • Experience with Statistical Process Control, Six Sigma Manufacturing Methodologies, and Digital Factory are preferred.
    • Experience with MS Office (Word, PowerPoint, Outlook) is expected. Experience with Oracle is preferred.

    Must be able to obtain and maintain a U.S. Security Clearance at the appropriate level (requires U.S. Citizenship). Must be able to satisfy federal government requirements for access to government information.  Having dual citizenship may preclude you from being able to meet this requirement.

     

    Work Environment and Physical Requirements:

    The work environment may require a combination of indoor and outdoor activity (hot, cold, wet, humid conditions) with a varied amount of walking, standing, sitting, climbing (i.e. ladders, stair, scaffolding, ramps), balance (maintaining body equilibrium to prevent falling when walking, standing, or crouching on narrow, slippery, or erratically moving surfaces), bending, reaching, handling/fingering (seizing, holding, grasping, turning picking, pinching), stooping, kneeling, crouching and ability to lift/carry/push/pull up to 50 pounds. While performing the duties of this job, employees may work around variable noise levels. May require the use of personal protective equipment such as safety glasses, safety shoes, and shop coat.   May also be required to work in a standard office setting and to use standard office equipment, including a computer. Ability to distinguish colors may also be necessary. Some employees may be required to drive between various locations within the Company facility or between locations. May require the ability to travel by air or auto. These positions may be expected to work varying shifts and hours to ensure successful operation of activities in the organization.
