Aerojet Rocketdyne is seeking an Associate Engineer, Component Product Engineering for our Redmond, WA office.
This is an entry-level engineering position for a recent college graduate in support of development of rocket engine components hardware. Components include rotating machinery, combustion devices, controls, system interconnects.
This can be filled at this level or one level higher.
Under close supervision and guidance of senior staff, the Associate Engineer performs entry-level professional engineering assignments following established policies. The position requires some independent professional judgment and application of engineering principles, theories and concepts.
35% - Researches, develops and supports fabrication of rocket engine components using engineering and scientific principles.
35% - Coordinates product development from ideas through product life cycle.
20% - Supports investigation and resolution of hardware and process anomalies and issues identified by preventative action/corrective action boards or safety initiative activities.
10% - Interfaces with other members of project or program teams, management, and technical staff to define and implement engineering solutions to meet group, organization, and company objectives.
Bachelor of Science or Master of Science degree in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering or a related field is required or equivalent combination of education and experience. Coursework in rocket engine design and related coursework is desirable. A GPA of 3.2 plus is required. Strong communication, technical presentation, teamwork, and Microsoft Office skills are required.
US Citizenship required. Must be able to obtain and maintain a U.S. Security Clearance at the appropriate level (U.S. Citizenship required). Must also be able to satisfy federal government requirements for access to government information, and having dual citizenship may preclude you from being able to meet this requirement.
Work Environment and Physical Requirements:
Employees in these positions must possess mobility to work in a standard office setting and to use standard office equipment, including a computer; stamina to sit and to maintain attention to detail despite interruptions; may occasionally lift/carry/push/pull up to 15 pounds; may require minimal walking, climbing, stooping, crouching, and/or bending; and vision to read printed materials and a computer screen, and hearing and speech to communicate in person and over the telephone. May require the ability to travel by air or auto. May require the use of personal protective equipment such as safety glasses, safety shoes, and shop coat. These positions may be expected to work varying shifts and hours to ensure successful operation of activities in the organization.
