This is a Summer 2019 Intern position that supports the Avionics Electro-Mechanical Packaging Design Department in our Canoga Park (Los Angeles), CA facility. The intern will support senior engineering staff and gain experience and familiarization with Aerojet Rocketdyne projects. The candidate must be able to operate effectively in a team environment. This internship position will start approximately May/June 2019.
Perform various electrical/mechanical engineering duties for the Electro-mechanical packaging design staff.
60% - Assist with the design and development of complex Electrical/Electronic Assemblies whose engineering designs are used on liquid rocket engine, electric propulsion and various defense electronic applications. Typical tasks may include conceptual design support, part selection research, computer aided design (CAD) and technical presentation support.
20% - Become familiar with utilize CAD software tools used to create 3D models. Prepare engineering drawings and apply dimensional tolerance. Perform basic engineering calculations to support concepts and preliminary designs.
20% - Supporting the creation and releasing of process documentation and/or process specification interpretation.
Candidate must be pursuing a Bachelor's (preferably at Sophomore/Junior level) or Master's degree in Mechanical or Electrical (or similar major) engineering discipline. Experience with CAD software tools is a plus.
US Citizenship required. Must also be able to satisfy federal government requirements for access to government information, and having dual citizenship may preclude you from being able to meet this requirement.
