Aerojet Rocketdyne is seeking an Associate Manufacturing Engineer to join our growing facility in Culpeper, Virginia.
Under close supervision, and following specific, detailed instructions, performs manufacturing engineering assignments requiring a wide application of standard principles, theories and concepts in the field, plus a working knowledge of other related disciplines.

Responsible for providing manufacturing engineering support for developmental solid rocket motor programs through the application of established manufacturing engineering procedures. Prepare and maintain manufacturing process planning, provides training and guidance to shop for personnel related implementation of planning. Assist in developing and implementing processing improvements. Assignments may involve supporting theoretical and experimental investigations, and assisting in planning of resources to support production requirements.
25% - Working under the direction of more senior Manufacturing Engineering staff, and with guidance from Design Engineering, Quality Engineering and Environmental Health and Safety representatives assist in the preparation and maintenance of detailed process instructions by following established manufacturing and procedures.
15% - Under guidance of more senior staff, review established solid rocket motor process instructions, monitor manufacturing activities for compliance with established process instructions.
15% - Assist in analysis and development of solutions to specific manufacturing problems utilizing manufacturing engineering techniques such as specification of tooling and organization of work flow. Prepare process flow diagrams, lead Process Failure Mode & Effects Analysis (PFMEA), and used systematic approach and tools to identify root causes and problem solving.
15% - Assist in preparing for and participate in process reviews. Participate in design reviews. Interface with internal/external customers.
30% - Assist other plant manufacturing engineers and engineering manager with Maestro (Oracle ERP) activities such as MBOMs, Routings and other related tasks for the SM3 Program.
Requires a Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Mechanical or Chemical Engineering preferred), or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Experience should include demonstrated ability in manufacturing and the ability to interpret end item drawings. Experience with Lean Manufacturing principles and statistical process control tools a plus.
Must be able to obtain and maintain a U.S. Security Clearance at the appropriate level (requires U.S. Citizenship). Must be able to satisfy federal government requirements for access to government information. Having dual citizenship may preclude you from being able to meet this requirement.

May require the ability to travel by air or auto. May require the use of personal protective equipment such as safety glasses, safety shoes, and shop coat. These positions may be expected to work varying shifts and hours to ensure successful operation of activities in the organization.
