    Aerojet Rocketdyne is seeking an Associate Software Development Engineer to join our team in Canoga Park, CA. The successful applicant will support requirements definition and verification for the RS-25 rocket engine, which provides propulsion for the NASA Space Launch System (SLS) vehicle. The successful applicant will perform software requirements analysis and definition, and will provide support to the hotfire test program, under the guidance and direction of a software team lead. The ideal candidate has had experience with requirements definition for NASA programs, is familiar with embedded and real-time software concepts, and is comfortable with the C/C++/C# programing languages. This position will report to the Sr. Manager, Software Engineering, Los Angeles.

    Essential Job Functions (Including % of Time for Each)

    Working under direct supervision:


    50% - Control System requirements analysis and definition, including development of requirements specifications and support to change boards.


    35% - Support for hotfire test, including the development and approval of documentation to authorize specific software versions for use.


    15% - Perform requirements analysis, design, implementation, unit test and integration of real-time and non-real-time application software associated with Aerojet Rocketdyne products.


    Requires a BS in Computer Science (or related discipline) or an equivalend combination of education and experience. Solid verbal and written communication skills expected.


    US Citizenship required. Must be able to obtain and maintain a U.S. Security Clearance at the appropriate level (U.S. Citizenship required). Must also be able to satisfy federal government requirements for access to government information, and having dual citizenship may preclude you from being able to meet this requirement.


    Preferred Qualifications:

    • Experience with the development of requirements or requirements changes for human-rated software with a NASA customer.
    • Exposure to real-time control theory.
    • Exposure to and/or understanding of CMMI Level 3 and greater software processes.


    Work Environment and Physical Requirements:

    Employees in these positions must possess mobility to work in a standard office setting and to use standard office equipment, including a computer; stamina to sit and to maintain attention to detail despite interruptions; may occasionally lift/carry/push/pull up to 15 pounds; may require minimal walking, climbing, stooping, crouching, and/or bending; and vision to read printed materials and a computer screen, and hearing and speech to communicate in person and over the telephone. May require the ability to travel by air or auto. May require the use of personal protective equipment such as safety glasses, safety shoes, and shop coat. These positions may be expected to work varying shifts and hours to ensure successful operation of activities in the organization.
