Aerojet Rocketdyne seeks an intern at the West Palm Beach (WPB), FL location to work in the RL 10 Engine Manufacturing area. 

Essential Job Functions (Including % of Time for Each)

100% - The Intern will work on continuous improvement projects that will improve the quality of our documents, processes and products in the WPB Manufacturing area. Activities may include:

  • Input tool drawings into Windchill database, input tooling numbers into work instructions, organize/improve tooling and gages listed in product work instructions, update manufacturing process work instructions, improve data collection for statistical process control analysis, collect data from lab reports to understand process variation and capability, and validate tube sampling rates.
  • Assist in kaizen events to reduce product lead time and improve visual factory.
  • Create NX models for machining tools, create cutting tools and tool holder models, simulate tool cutting with Vericut software.
  • Support special requests as needed.


Candidates must be currently enrolled in a program leading to a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Industrial Engineering or Manufacturing Engineering, or other science or technology related major. Coursework related to drawing interpretation, Lean Manufacturing, CNC programming, manufacturing standard work documentation is desired. Good academic standing expected. Completion of freshman or sophomore year of study preferred.


Desirable Qualifications: Industrial experience (machine shop, welding, hands-on mechanical experience).


US Citizenship required. Must also be able to satisfy federal government requirements for access to government information, and having dual citizenship may preclude you from being able to meet this requirement.



Work Environment/Physical Requirements:

Employees in these positions must possess mobility to work in a standard office setting and to use standard office equipment, including a computer; stamina to sit and to maintain attention to detail despite interruptions; may occasionally lift/carry/push/pull up to 25 pounds; may require minimal walking, climbing, stooping, crouching, climbing and/or bending; and vision to read printed materials and a computer screen, and hearing and speech to communicate in person and over the telephone. May require the ability to travel by air or auto. May require the use of personal protective equipment such as safety glasses and safety shoes. These positions may be expected to work varying shifts and hours to ensure successful operation of activities in the organization.
