Overview

Aerojet Rocketdyne's Contracts department assists with strategic assessment of business pursuits, proposal preparation and review, conducts contract negotiation, contract administration and customer contact activities to ensure proper contract awards and fulfillment.

 

We are seeking a Summer 2018 Intern to join our Contracts team in Canoga Park, CA (Los Angeles area). In this role, you will support various large rocket engine product lines within the Space business units (both the US Government and commercial markets). The Contracts team operates in a fast paced, dynamic environment in which new innovative, leading edge approaches to problem solving are highly encouraged. This position requires an understanding and application of principles, concepts, and practices pertaining to the various fields of business. The ideal candidate should have strong academic credentials and experience working in a team environment, having not only academic, but also interpersonal skills to help optimize the output of our teams. Additionally, the candidate should possess an inquisitive nature and a strong desire to learn real world applications to complement their academic experience.

Essential Job Functions (Including % of Time for Each)

100%:

  • Working with Contract Managers to review contract terms and conditions (analysis).
  • Supporting Contract Managers in development and preparation of proposals, review of contracts, gate review documents and other general contracts administration activities.
  • Conducting research on unique topics (i.e. property, , billing, and intellectual property).
  • Cataloguing documents for storage and archiving purposes.
  • Learning and using Aerojet Rocketdyne’s various IT share drives and databases to enter and retrieve critical proposal and contract information and report out as requested.
  • Providing critical data management support.
  • Coordinating with finance, legal, program management and engineering as required to perform contract closeout activities.

Requirements

Candidates must be pursuing either a BS/BA or MA/MS degree in one of the following disciplines: Business Administration, Business Management, International Business, Contract Administration, Supply Chain Management, Economics, Finance, Business Law, or Accounting.

 

US Citizenship required. Must also be able to satisfy federal government requirements for access to government information, and having dual citizenship may preclude you from being able to meet this requirement.

 

 

Desired Qualifications:

  • Minimum grade point average of 3.0 or above.
  • Demonstrated ability to work in teams.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
  • Demonstrates strong business acumen.
  • Demonstrated ability in developing solutions to complex issues using an organized systematic approach.
  • Demonstrated ability to complete projects on schedule following established procedures.
  • Ability to foster and maintain solid relationships internally and externally.
  • Strong interpersonal, as well as excellent and effective written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to perform work under general direction.
  • Attention to detail.

 

Work Environment/Physical Requirements:

Employees in these positions must possess mobility to work in a standard office setting and to use standard office equipment, including a computer; stamina to sit and to maintain attention to detail despite interruptions; may occasionally lift/carry/push/pull up to 15 pounds; may require minimal walking, climbing, stooping, crouching, and/or bending; and vision to read printed materials and a computer screen, and hearing and speech to communicate in person and over the telephone. May require the ability to travel by air or auto. May require the use of personal protective equipment such as safety glasses, safety shoes, and shop coat. These positions may be expected to work varying shifts and hours to ensure successful operation of activities in the organization.
