ARDE, Inc., an Aerojet Rocketdyne Company, designs and manufactures pressure vessels (tanks) for aerospace applications.


We are seeking an Associate Engineer, Supplier Quality Assurance with aerospace experience for our location in Carlstadt, NJ.


This position will work in a metal manufacturing environment. This position needs candidates who are familiar with manufacturing methods including heat treating, welding, composites, NDT and inspection methods.


Under close guidance, plans quality requirements and specifications for suppliers.


This current opening may be filled at this level as posted or at one level higher.

Essential Job Functions (Including % of Time for Each)

40% - Utilizes engineering background and experience to communicate between team members and supplier counterparts to provide assurance that the hardware is compliant to specifications. Handles and communicates deviations/nonconformances at different levels within the organization. Becomes familiar with the typical aerospace processes (machining, welding, NDT, etc.) and communicates how they are applied to the hardware being manufactured. Acts as a team member with procurement and component engineering to engage critical suppliers to enable them to be successful.


20% - Applies modern quality principles, concepts, and methods to aerospace and manufacturing operation, including Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma tools.


20% - Interprets engineering drawings and specifications, customer quality requirements, and company quality requirements to ensure compliance with the customer's expectations.


20% - Assists in preparing comprehensive analyses, procedures, reports and presentations for customer/supplier review throughout the evaluation process. Reviews all supplier data and ensures that it is complete and accurate.


Requires a Bachelor's degree in an engineering or other related discipline (or an equivalent combination of education and experience). Exposure to aerospace manufacturing in a multi-functional team environment is preferred. Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to effectively establish positive working relationships with various operational groups, all levels of employees, suppliers, and customers. Ability to accommodate 25% travel.


US Citizenship required. Must also be able to satisfy federal government requirements for access to government information, and having dual citizenship may preclude you from being able to meet this requirement.



Work Environment and Physical Requirements:

Employees in these positions must possess mobility to work in a standard office setting and to use standard office equipment, including a computer; stamina to sit and to maintain attention to detail despite interruptions; may occasionally lift/carry/push/pull up to 15 pounds; may require minimal walking, climbing, stooping, crouching, and/or bending; and vision to read printed materials and a computer screen, and hearing and speech to communicate in person and over the telephone. May require the ability to travel by air or auto. May require the use of personal protective equipment such as safety glasses, safety shoes, and shop coat. These positions may be expected to work varying shifts and hours to ensure successful operation of activities in the organization.
