This is a summer 2018 intern position (start date in May or June 2018) that supports an engineering group in our Huntsville, AL facility. The role is involved with generating propulsion concepts and conducting mission analyses for future space and defense mission applications. The position requires a limited use and/or application of basic engineering principles, theories and concepts. Responsibilities include general and specialized assignments that provide training and work experience of a developmental nature.
Under close supervision and following specific detailed instructions, after orientation and training the intern performs entry-level engineering assignments.
100% - Support modeling tool enhancement, mission analyses, and preliminary concept trades. Interface with internal customers and other organizations within engineering. Role may involve programming in Python, ModelCenter, C#, MATLAB, Fortran, and Visual Basic, and utilizing NX CAD and MS office software.
Must be currently enrolled in a Bachelor’s or Master’s program in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering or related discipline, and have completed junior year of study. Experience or coursework with propulsion projects and related modeling are desired. Good academic standing expected. Demonstrated strong written and oral communication skills, as well as technical and analytical abilities.
