In this position, the student will support the Configuration and Data Management area in the successful planning, design, development and qualification of rocket propulsion systems (spacecraft, launch vehicle, and missile applications). These products include solid, liquid, and electric propulsion rocket motors and engines.  Performs a variety of tasks, which may include documentation review and release, change control, interface with internal organizations within engineering, manufacturing, quality and test.

Essential Job Functions (Including % of Time for Each)

Under close supervision, performs entry-level professional assignments and follows established policies.

 

60% - Performs a variety of configuration and/or data management tasks that are planned to provide experience and familiarization with the engineering staff and company programs, methods and practices.

 

10% - Inputs data extracted from drawings, specifications and other technical documentation into a computer system.

 

10% - Prepares internal documentation for configuration requirements specific to a team or project.

 

10% - Interfaces and coodinates with other organizational functions on routine matters.

 

5% - Reads and interprets drawings, blueprints and related specifications.

 

5% - Works independently within established guidelines.

Requirements

Candidates must be currently enrolled in a BS/BA or MA/MS or PhD degree program and have completed their junior year of study in one of the following disciplines: Business Administration, Business Management, International Business, Contract Administration, Supply Chain Management, Economics, Finance, Business Law, or Accounting.

 

US Citizenship required. Must also be able to satisfy federal government requirements for access to government information, and having dual citizenship may preclude you from being able to meet this requirement.

 

Desired Qualifications:

  • Minimum grade point average of 3.0 or above
  • Demonstrated ability to work on teams
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint
  • Demonstrates strong business acumen
  • Demonstrated ability in developing solutions to complex issues using an organized systematic approach
  • Demonstrated ability to complete projects on schedule following established procedures
  • Ability to foster and maintain solid relationships internally and externally
  • Strong interpersonal skills
  • Excellent and effective written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to perform work under general direction
  • Attention to detail

 

Work Environment/Physical Requirements:

Employees in these positions must possess mobility to work in a standard office setting and to use standard office equipment, including a computer; stamina to sit and to maintain attention to detail despite interruptions; may occasionally lift/carry/push/pull up to 25 pounds; may require minimal walking, climbing, stooping, crouching, and/or bending; and vision to read printed materials and a computer screen, and hearing and speech to communicate in person and over the telephone. May require the ability to travel by air or auto. May require the use of personal protective equipment such as safety glasses, safety shoes, and shop coat. These positions may be expected to work varying shifts and hours to ensure successful operation of activities in the organization.
